Agile Bilingual Technical Writers
At Senior Sistemas' we implemented Agile best practices for our deliverables control. The artifacts originally in Portuguese are translated to English and Spanish.
All the user guides, produced using MadCap Flare are translated using MadCap Lingo.
Agile Process
The original version in Portuguese is delivered first, so the English and Spanish versions are released 1 or 2 sprints later.
Bilingual Writers are dedicated to each language. 2 out of 7 product lines are translated. In addition, maintenance releases are translated periodically, not following a sprint-base.
The team is responsible for the translation of Senior solutions and also of Senior's Documentation Portal.
Software translation is done using MadCap Lingo, gaining productivity due to the use of translation memories.
The Documentation Portal is written in the final language, using MadCap Flare. In this way is possible to handle multiple outputs, choosing one file per language.
As the Technical Documentation Coordinator, I was also responsible for the Translations Team. We achieved Kanban Maturity Model Level 2. We organized our process as follows:
- Inception: UX + PO + TW
- Content Validation: PO + Support
- KM Program Board: 11 products x 7 content verticals
- "Top 10" Deliveries: % weekly evolution
- 5 TW squads: weekly Kanban meeting
- Head of People & Organization: Gemba walk monthly
